Johns Hopkins: 2016 – 2017 Men’s College Squash Season Preview

Johns Hopkins University Baltimore, MD — With five players not returning from the starting line-up at the 2016 Men’s College Squash Association National Team Championships, Johns Hopkins acknowledges that the upcoming season may be different. “While we anticipate a difficult season after having graduated many of our top players last year, this year will be exciting to build a new community for Hopkins Men’s Squash,” states tri-captain Phil Shin. The Blue Jays are anticipating seven players to join this year’s squad. With the turnover in the ladder, success in 5-4 matches may not be as solid as last season. In the 2015 – 2016 season, the Blue Jays went 5 for 5 in 5-4 matches with victories over Denison, MIT, Georgetown, Chicago, and Haverford. Shin adds that Johns Hopkins is “looking to become more involved with Baltimore SquashWise this season, as we were a while back. It is really exciting to be able to coach and mentor kids from the city and community that we live in.” Johns Hopkins may struggle to return to the Conroy Cup (D Division) this season.
