Northwestern: 2013 – 2014 Women’s College Squash Season Preview

Northwestern University Chicago, IL — Northwestern is launching a women’s program this season. Captains Jackie Edelson and Alyssa Brewer played for the Northwestern’s men the past few seasons before founding the women’s program. Brewer explains that the team  hopes “to establish a strong foundation for a lasting women’s squash program at Northwestern University.” The team will feature many players with prep school squash experience, including alums of Greenwich Academy and Exeter. To help motivate the team, in October the Wildcats will be attending some PSA matches at a nearby squash club. “Hopefully seeing the pros play will be an inspiration for the season!” explains Brewer.  Northwestern is looking forward to matches with other Midwest clubs, including Notre Dame, the University of Minnesota, Wash U and Vanderbilt, as they attempt to qualify for Nationals. “While it’s hard to know as a brand new team how we will stack up against them, we hope that these will be very competitive matches,” Brewer explains.
