Northwestern: 2011 – 2012 Men’s College Squash Season Preview

Evanston, IL — Northwestern’s goal for this season is to break into the C Division, which would move the Wildcats well inside the top 30. Although Northwestern has consistently been among the top teams in the D Division over the past 10 years, they haven’t made the jump into the Summers Cup competition.

The Wildcats were already moving up by the end of last season. Ranked 31st coming into the Men’s National Team Championships, Northwestern made it to the consolation finals, where they narrowly lost to Northeastern, finishing 30th overall.

Northeastern will be a key match for Northwestern again this season, as will Georgetown.

Guiding the Wildcats as they reach for new heights will be former German national champion Franz Schwerer, who is taking over as coach from Jonas Laursen.
