Poughkeepsie, NY — After making it to the C Division finals the year before, Vassar finished last season ranked 22nd overall. It was the first time since 2001 that the Brewers ended a season outside the top 20.
Having lost the bookends of their line-up, number 1 Kristine Bell and number 9 Liz Anderson, the Brewers are still in a rebuilding cycle. The heart of the line-up will be back, and expect the team to be stronger in the spring. That’s when Jill Levine and Sanam Khanna will be back from study abroad, though Avery Siciliano will be abroad for the second semester.
The team has two new first-year players. Devina Vaid comes to Vassar from the Dhirubhai Ambani International School in Mumbai, and Alexandra Bowditch comes from Poly Prep Country Day in Brooklyn. Former Rochester player Robert McDavid also joins the program as assistant coach.
“All heart” is how head coach Jane Parker describes the team. “They never say never. They are all invested in having a good season.”
