Brown: 2009 – 2010 Women’s College Squash Season Preview

brownProvidence, RI — Last season, Brown captured the Kurtz Cup at the National Team Championships (Howe Cup).  This season, the Bears hope to build on this momentum and battle their way into a top-eight finish and a berth in the Howe Cup (A Division).

During the 2008 – 2009 season, head coach Stuart le Gassick and the team traveled to the Cayman Islands. The squad obviously benefited from the training trip. It was also a nice way for assistant coach Shay Lynch to conclude her twenty years with Brown.

This season, the Bears are set for stiff competition from fellow Kurtz Cup teams Dartmouth and Mount Holyoke, as well as challenges from the traditional powerhouses Harvard and Princeton. The 2009 – 2010 team will be led by  tri-captains and CSA Scholar Athletes Laura Pyne, Sarah Roberts and Kali Schellenberg. They will be joined by a strong group of first year players who will provide great depth: Sarah Crosky, Lydia Smith, Kyla Harrington, Sarah Beresford, and Antonia Libassi.
