University of Pennsylvania: 2009 – 2010 Men’s College Squash Season Preview

upennPhiladelphia, PA — Last season, the University of Pennsylvania finished the year with an 8-8 record and were ranked 7th in the country.  This season, the Quakers have their top four players returning to the lineup and several strong additions to the team.

According to head coach Craig Thorpe-Clark, “A young but very experienced team should give us lots of energy, enthusiasm and winning results. We look to move up the rankings, and challenge all the top teams.”

Last season, the Quakers had close matches with many of their Ivy League competitors.  Penn lost a 5-4 match to Harvard late in the season, but quickly rebounded to defeat Dartmouth 5-4 at the end of the regular season and then again in the Potter Cup at the National Team Championships.

“Our Ivy matches are always the key to our season. We had some very close matches with Dartmouth last year, and I expect the same again this season,” adds Thorpe-Clark. “But I do expect we can move up the rankings and get close to the top of the Ivy rankings.”
