Canton, NY — St. Lawrence co-starred in one of the most exciting team matches at the 2011-2012 Women’s National Team Championships. The Epps Cup semifinal between the Saints and William Smith came down to the last game of the last match. The Saints narrowly lost to the Herons, and St. Lawrence is looking forward to this season’s rematch with their Liberty League rivals. The Saints lost two players to graduation and are gaining four new players, who should all find spots in the top nine. The new players are Catherine Sanderson, Valeria Quan, Sarah Neilson, and Emma Garfield. “We are looking to continue to improve on our ranking this season,” says Jennifer Girard, St. Lawrence’s sports information director. “We should see a jump in our position.” Leapfrogging William Smith to reach the top 20 would make that improvement even sweeter.
