Chestnut Hill, MA — The bad news? Last season BC fell short of their season goal, which was to compete in the D Division at the Men’s National Team Championships. The good news? The Eagles went undefeated at the 2011-2012 National Team Championships, winning the Chaffee Cup and the E Division title. With that strong performance behind them and only two seniors graduating, the top 32 should be well within the Eagles’ reach. The team has identified three Boston-area teams as key match-ups: MIT, Northeastern, and Tufts. Last season, BC was on the short end of two 4-5 matches against 31st-ranked MIT, and if new first-year players can fill in the holes left in the Eagles’ roster, they may be able to reverse those results. Veteran player Max Ortwein is optimistic about the Eagles’ chances. “Our team has been steadily improving since our founding in 2009, and we intend to continue that momentum,” he says.
