On Saturday morning, Gavin Jones coached his women’s team through his 100th win in his career as the Women’s Head Coach at Franklin and Marshall. Jones shares this “added motivation” made winning the CSA Women’s Match of the Week that much more special.
The competition was evenly matched with No. 23 Wesleyan sweeping the bottom of the ladder and No. 25 F&M taking the top and split in the middle. The match, tied at 4-4, came down to the #4 players. In a thrilling 5 gamer, junior Zarine Gidwaney secured the win for the Diplomats.
“We have practiced hard and had a very close match against Bates before Thanksgiving, which gave us some confidence going into the match. Getting the win against a very good Wesleyan team has shown the team what we can achieve together as a team” Jones comments.
F&M closed out the semester with a 9-0 win against Denison on Sunday. Jones and the F&M women will look to continue this momentum when matches resume on January 5, 2024.
