The No. 7 Columbia Lions upset No. 6 Drexel Dragons in a thrilling CSA Men’s Match of the Week. The Columbia men looked to repay Drexel after the 9-0 shutout last season. Through several close games, Columbia fought to secure the 5-4 win on their home courts.
Chris Sachvie, Head Men’s and Women’s Squash Coach, acknowledges that “the Drexel match is always going to be tough – no matter their personnel year to year they always have great competitors. The men’s match with Drexel was super competitive top to bottom and took 9 strong efforts to secure five wins”.
The Lions are a team to watch as they have been creeping up the rankings this fall. “The team is excited to start the season with great wins over UVA and Drexel. We look to finish strong this weekend with Williams and put in a great block of training before a tough winter schedule. The work ethic has been really good with the group and they believe in themselves and what they can do this year so the goal is to keep climbing” Sachvie shares.
Columbia will close out the fall semester on the road against Williams on Saturday.
