George Washington: 2018-2019 Women’s College Squash Season Preview

In 2018, the George Washington Women’s program was seeded to compete for a finish in the top half of the Kurtz Cup results.  Unfortunately, it was not meant to be, as they sustained two close upset losses in the CSA Women’s Team Championships, falling to Number 14.  This fall, the Colonials eagerly return to the court looking to climb back into the position they earned after the regular season last year.  According to Head Coach Wendy Lawrence, they are a young, but talented bunch, who are hungry for some upsets.  Leading the young talent is Second Team All-American Zoe Foo Yuk Han, who earned the award after winning the Holleran East draw at Individual Nationals.  Number 2 player Engy Elmandouh also returns along with five other starters.  In the offseason, Lawrence added two promising recruits to the mix, who will likely be called upon early on to fill some critical holes in the lineup.  To reach that Top-12 goal that they are striving for, they will have to unseat Brown, Virginia, and Williams, all teams ahead of them in the CSA Preseason Rankings.
