In his first year at the helm of the Fordham Men’s Squash team, Head Coach Sahel Anwar lead his team to a program best 19 wins and a jump of 8 spots in the rankings, from 42 to 34. They were upset in the Chaffee Cup finals by noisy neighbors NYU, but Anwar hopes the big jump in the rankings is a sign of things to come. Extra coaching time with Anwar should help some of the returning players to step in holes at the top of the ladder caused by the graduation of Number 2 player Peter Yuen and Number 3 John Lennon. Additionally, Fordham has attracted several promising recruits from some storied high school programs who will look to compete for playing time right away. Once again, the Rams have a robust schedule with 23 matches on the docket. Using their New York City home as a destination for rising teams and club programs, they will host two round robin weekends in December, which should be a fun exhibition of squash in the Big Apple.
