Colby: 2018-2019 Men’s College Squash Season Preview

With the departure of long tenured head coach Sakhi Khan, questions about who would take over the Colby squash programs loomed late into the summer.  Enter Chris Abplanalp, highly successful coach and educator who helped bring St. Lawrence University’s men’s squash program to national prominence.  Abplanalp inherits a bit of a project with a short time frame to get up to speed. Five of Colby’s top nine starters will not be returning this year, including three of the top four players. Abplanalp’s squad will boast a strong contingent of six first-years, so quantity of personnel will not be an issue.  It just remains to be seen which players will take on the leadership roles and who will perform at the top of the lineup.  NESCAC opponent Amherst will look to leapfrog Colby in the rankings when they meet in the regular season.
