Stanford: 2018-2019 Women’s College Squash Season Preview

The Stanford Women’s Squash team has found a home in the top 8 of the CSA rankings in recent years, and, after temporarily creeping into the top 4 last year, they will hope to finish the year there in 2019. At coach Mark Talbott’s disposal this season will be what he calls “the strongest women’s team Stanford has ever had”.  Those are strong words considering the 2017-2018 version of the team lead the CSA in total team victories with 16.  The balanced lineup that Talbott touts includes returners in the top three positions, including CSA Second Team All-American Casey Wong, six returning starters overall, and three promising first-years. Without as many teams planning to travel to the west coast this year, Stanford will play a lower number of matches overall.  The caliber of their opponents, however, will not be limited, as they will meet each of the other top 8 ranked teams during this year’s regular season.
