Columbia University’s Men’s Squash team will enter the 2018-2019 with high expectations, but it certainly will be difficult to top the success they achieved last year. For starters, they were the first team other than Harvard, Yale, or Princeton to win the Ivy League Championship in 44 years. Columbia also matched its program-best final team ranking of 3rd. Individually they were just as strong, with the Skillman Award winner Osama Khalifa and two First Team All-America selections – Khalifa and first-year Velavan Senthilkumar. Columbia’s senior class will be very hard to replace, but Coach Jacques Swanepoel will aim to fill the gaps and add depth with five first-year players on the roster. Harvard will eagerly welcome the Lions to Cambridge looking to reclaim the Ivy Championship, and Columbia will take on non-Ivy foes Trinity, St. Lawrence, and Rochester in the battel for top billing in the CSA.
