Brown: 2016 – 2017 Men’s College Squash Season Preview

Brown: 2016 – 2017 Men’s College Squash Season Preview

Brown University Providence, RI — Brown finshed last season with an 8th place finish in the Hoehn Cup (B Division) at the Men’s College Squash Association National Team Championships. The Bears  reside in one of the most competitive areas of the men’s team rankings. Fortunately for the Bears, their sole 5-4 victory of the season over Bates earned them the final position in the Hoehn Cup. This season, Brown will replace three graduating players with three experienced freshmen, two of whom are expected to compete for positions in the top 3. According to head coach Stuart le Gassick, the team’s goal is “to work hard while smiling, to continue to repect our opponents and retain our position in the B Division.” He adds that “the team is a close knit unit who enjoy training and competing together as a team. Their academics and athletic experience are equally important – and they support each other in both areas of their Brown experience.” The race for the final Hoehn Cup positions should be very competitive and Brown will need to win more close matches to retain their position from last season.
