Franklin & Marshall: 2014 – 2015 Women’s College Squash Season Preview

Franklin & Marshall CollegeLancaster, PA — Last season, Franklin & Marshall made it as high as 13th in the nation. Ultimately, they concluded the year at 18th, as they finished second in the Walker Cup (C Division) at Team Championships. According to head coach Gavin Jones, “We are a very close team like one Big Squash Family. We work hard on the court and in the classroom, while having fun and supporting each other.” The team will be working with Squash ACES, F&M’s urban youth squash program. The Diplomats want to finish this season within the top 12 teams in the nation. To do so, they will need to play consistently throughout the season. Last season, late January was the turning point for the team; they lost to Amherst, Middlebury, and Williams. This season, the team has three vacancies from last season’s Team Championship line-up to fill. The squad will also be without Emily Caldwell, who will be studying abroad during the fall. The team is expecting four players to join the line-up, including Fiona Murphy, who is returning from a semester off and is expected to play #1 for the Diplomats. With additions to the line-up, a top 12 finish may be a possibility for the Diplomats.
