Conn College: 2014 – 2015 Women’s College Squash Season Preview

Connecticut CollegeNew London, CT — Connecticut College has emerged stronger after a rebuilding season in 2013-2014. The Camels will be returning all players from last year’s top 12, and their four first-year players are all expected to vie for spots in the starting order. According to head coach Ted Childs, “The team has wonderful team chemistry. Their bond is amazing and was developed over the course of a rebuilding season last year, and they with the integration of a new coach as well.” To enhance the team’s bond, a winter training trip to Grand Cayman is being planned. In addition, the team will be working with Capitol Squash, Hartford’s new urban squash program. On the court, the team will be focused on matches with Tufts, William Smith, Wellesley, Colby, and Mount Holyoke, all teams that defeated the Camels last season. Tri-captains Leah Puklin, Ashley Arthur, and Caroline Sargent will lead the team this season. Puklin was 1 of only 4 NESCAC players to earn the trifecta in NESCAC honors: NESCAC All Sportsmanship Team, Second Team All NESCAC as a player, and NESCAC All Academic Team.”The Conn Team is very fortunate to have outstanding leadership in seasoned Captains Arthur, Puklin and Sargent and in seniors Jacobs and Tierney. We plan to put our best effort forward for every match, get the most out of our potential and carry ourselves with the utmost sportsmanship,” adds Childs.
