Yale: 2014 – 2015 Men’s College Squash Season Preview

Yale UniversityNew Haven, CT — After finishing the 2013 – 2014 college squash season ranked 3rd in the nation and second in the Ivy League, the Yale Bulldogs want more. They want to claim the National Championship and the Ivy League crown. Three seniors have graduated, but with six freshmen arriving on campus, the ladder will be even more competitive. According to head coach Dave Talbott, “We are very young team with potentially only one senior in the top 9. Last year our freshmen [TJ Dembinski and Liam Mcclintock] only lost 1 match each. We have 3 juniors who have contributed to the top 9 since their first year. We have added 6 freshmen who all have a very good chance of being in the top 9.” Joey Roberts, the sole senior from last season’s starting nine, will captain the Bulldogs. “He has become an invaluable team member who has won critical matches which have turned the outcomes of matches around. His dedication to squash is infectious and his teammates are eager to rally around him and help him bring in a national championship title,” Talbott adds.  Roberts, like all Yale squash players, volunteers with SquashHaven, a NUSEA program. For Roberts and the Bulldogs to capture the Ivy League and national titles this season, they will need to mature quickly and defeat perennial rivals Harvard and Trinity.
