St. Lawrence: 2014 – 2015 Men’s College Squash Season Preview

St. Lawrence UniversityCanton, NY — St. Lawrence has been on a steady rise over the past 10 years. Last season, the Saints finished 5th in the nation, the highest ranking in program history, and they captured the Liberty League title. Led by a talented duo of All-Americans, St. Lawrence also did well at the Individual Championships (Pool Trophy), with Amr Khaled Khalifa finishing as the runner up and Moustafa Bayoumy making it to the semifinals. This season, St. Lawrence hopes to improve, a difficult goal for any team in the Potter Cup (A Division). The team is losing 2 players from its starting 9 at Team Championships, but has 6 incoming players, including 2 freshmen who are expected to play in the top 3.  For the Saints to improve, they need production in the middle of their lineup. Last season, the middle 3 captured 59% of matches, while the bottom 3 and top 3 captured 82% and 80% respectively. The squad will have five seniors, many of whom will fill spots in the middle to bottom of the ladder. Look for them to be motivated and the win percentage of the middle 3 to improve.
