William Smith: 2014 – 2015 Women’s College Squash Season Preview

William Smith College

Geneva, NY — William Smith, a staple in the Epps Cup the past few seasons, intends to either win the Epps Cup or move into the Walker Cup (C Division). That quest would appear challenging: after all, the Herons lost a third of their team from last season’s team championships. Yet the team has an influx of new players joining the squad. Five incoming players all have multiple years of prep squash experience. The top-five positions from last season combined to win 43% of their matches, which is slightly lower than the 55% won by the remaining positions. The team only had only one 4-5 match last season, the final match in the Epps Cup against Tufts. To vault into the Walker Cup, they will need to win more tightly contested matches.  According to head coach Chip Fishback, “We’re going to have a very young, diverse team, with all kinds of enthusiasm.”
