Penn State: 2013 – 2014 Men’s College Squash Season Preview

Penn State University State College, PA — Although most people think of football when it comes to Penn State, members of the squash team want to introduce a new sport to State College. Last season, the Nittany Lions played four official College Squash Association matches. Penn State defeated Swarthmore, Ithaca, and Siena, and lost to Georgetown. This season, Penn State’s goal is “to increase the competitiveness of the team by playing as much matches as possible and ultimately participate in the CSA Men’s National Team Championships,” says captain Ahmad Alhazeem. The team is scheduled to play round robins at Meadow Mills, which will include matches with Ithaca, Johns Hopkins, Bard, Maryland, Swarthmore, and the College of Charleston. Alhazeem adds that “This round robin is one of the most important factors that would get us to nationals and occurs at a time that shows how well our team competes versus a variety of different opponents.”
