Penn: 2013 – 2014 Men’s College Squash Season Preview

Pennsylvania, University of Philadelphia, PA — The B Division has become one of the most closely contested divisions in the Men’s College Squash Association, and the Penn men are right in the middle of all the action. They reached the finals of the Hoehn Cup in 2011, won the division in 2012, and narrowly lost to Bates in the consolation semifinals last season. Competition in the division will only grow fiercer in the coming year, as teams like Middlebury, George Washington, and Wesleyan look to crack the top 16. The increasing strength of lower teams will put pressure on Penn and other established B Division teams. Early in the season, Penn will play Drexel, a team on the rise that also has designs on Hoehn Cup play. Penn will have to be sharp throughout the season to hold off these newer squads as well as some of their traditional B Division competitors, like Dartmouth and Williams.  The Quakers will return all but their number 1 player from last season, and they will be joined by three new players: Rahil Fazelbhoy, B.G. Lemmon, and Benton Turner. Gilly Lane and Ricky Dodd will also join the program as new assistant coaches.
