Amherst: 2013 – 2014 Women’s College Squash Season Preview

Amherst College

Amherst, MA — Amherst will have to start the season by making some adjustments at the top of their line-up. Last season’s top two players have graduated, and their number 3, Arielle Lehman, will be abroad during the fall. The rest of last season’s starters will be back, however, and Lena Rice is returning from study abroad. First-year player Tiana Palmer-Poroner will also be joining the team. The holes at the top of the order will provide opportunities for all these athletes to step up and take on new competitive roles. They should have plenty of experiences by the time the key matches of the season roll around. “Little III is always a big weekend of matches,” says head coach Peter Robson. Amherst will also compete at the NESCAC Championships, which is a good test before Women’s National Team Championships. Last season Amherst finished seventh in the Kurtz Cup and fifteenth overall. The Jeffs’ team goal is to improve upon that final ranking.
