Virginia: 2013 – 2014 Men’s College Squash Season Preview

Virginia, University ofCharlottesville, VA — “Although we are currently a club sport, our program will be run with the seriousness of any varsity program,” says Virginia head coach Mark Allen, who joined the program in May. “We have our own eleven-court facility, a full-time head coach and assistant coach, and a private budget that’s equivalent to any varsity program in the nation. With a full match and practice schedule, we provide a squash experience that measures up to any offered in the CSA.” Right now, the Virginia men are focusing on higher ranked club opponents, such as Georgetown and Bucknell. “Last season, the men lost to these opponents 1-8 in each outing,” Allen explains. “The 2013-2014 contests will be a good indication of how the Cavalier men are doing with one of their top goals: to play better in the big matches.” With their new head coach and the brand new training facility, which features nine international courts and two doubles courts, the Cavaliers have the resources to grow and improve for seasons to come.
