Haverford: 2012 – 2013 Men’s College Squash Season Preview

Haverford, PA — Haverford has one eye looking forward and one eye looking back. “The match between Haverford and UVA was a thrilling one in the [F Division] finals of the National Championships last year,” Haverford head coach Niki Clement explains. “Haverford won the title but we know that UVA will be out to get us this year.” The Fords are mindful of motivated rivals like UVA and Vassar, but they are also looking forward to continuing their growth from last season and making an impact on E Division competition. The Fords are gaining three new players with prep school squash backgrounds: Nate Vestriche (St. Paul’s), Laurenson Ward (Chestnut Hill), and Will Greer (St. George’s). All three have the potential to play in the top 5. Says Clement, “Our team is very deep, especially with the addition of our incoming class, and so I do expect there to be some competitive challenge matches up and down the ladder in the beginning of the season, and this may well continue throughout the season.  Coming off of a hard-working season where we saw huge jumps in improvement, our motivated group is very eager to improve our national ranking. More than that, though, they are passionate about the game and our main goal is to make sure we are enjoying the process.”
