William Smith: 2012 – 2013 Women’s College Squash Season Preview

Geneva, NY — Don’t be misled by early results: the Herons will be stronger this year. Only two players graduated last season, but four others will be studying abroad during the fall semester. However, the team has four new players coming in, and head coach Chip Fishback is optimistic about the season. “We should be a much deeper team than last year, especially when our abroad student-athletes return in January,” he says. The team should be at full strength when they travel to the Smith Round Robin in late January. The event may give the Herons the opportunity to take on hosts Smith College, who edged out William Smith 5-4 in last year’s Epps Cup final. St. Lawrence, who William Smith defeated 5-4 in the D Division semifinals, and Vassar, another Liberty League opponent, will be other key matches for the Herons.
