Poughkeepsie, NY — At the 2011 Guy Fawkes College Squash Challenge, Vassar College hosted Smith College. It was the opening match of the 2011 – 2012 season for both squads.
Coming into the weekend, Smith College was ranked 27th in the 2011 – 2012 Women’s College Squash Preseason Rankings. Vassar was ranked 22nd. In the team match, Vassar won 6-3. Both Vassar and Smith defeated Haverford in their other matches in the Challenge.
In the match at the number 1 position, Vassar captain Meg Taylor faced Smith first-year student Jacqueline Zhou. Taylor captured the first game; however, Zhou came back to win the next three games. Zhou won the match 10-12, 11-5, 11-2, and 11-5.
