Fordham: 2011 – 2012 Men’s College Squash Season Preview

Bronx, NY — Last season saw some major changes for Fordham squash. Bryan Patterson took over for as head coach from Bob Hawthorn, who had led the Rams for over fifty years. Fordham also got new international courts thanks to CitySquash, an urban squash program in the Bronx.

“This is our second season with international courts so we are excited to get other colleges here to play against us,” says Patterson.

At least one new player will be joining the team, and he should have an immediate impact on the ladder. Karim Amir, a Rye High School graduate, comes from a family of talented squash players. He is expected to play in the Rams’ top 3.

Esteban Espinal, who is also with CitySquash, will continue to work with the team as an assistant coach. Patterson speaks highly of Espinal. “He’s an excellent player and brings his squash expertise to Fordham.”

The new era of Fordham squash looks to be headed in a positive direction. “We are building a team that I believe could become a top collegiate program in the near future,” says Patterson.
