Cornell: 2011 – 2012 Women’s College Squash Season Preview

Ithaca, NY — A deep incoming class may help Cornell move up in the A Division.

The Big Red have lost only one player from last season’s starting line-up, and there are six new players on the roster. In addition to newcomers Sofia Thierry (Newton Country Day) and Kate Donatiello (Lawrenceville), Cornell has four players expected to play in the top 9. Danielle Letourneau, who is currently ranked number 1 GU19 in Canada and represented her country at the World Junior Championships this summer, is expected to play in the top 3. Two other accomplished Canadian juniors, Lindsay Seginson and Rachel Au, should play in the middle of the ladder, and Jacqueline Wagner, who has placed in or around the top 10 in the US since GU13, will likely play in the bottom 3.

The new Ivy schedule has the Big Red playing all of their league matches in a four-week period during January and February. Cornell should be battle-tested come time for the Women’s National Team Championships.
