Williamstown, MA — Williams had a surprise upset in the semifinals of the 2011 NESCAC championships. After reaching the finals every year since the tournament began, the Ephs were knocked out by Middlebury.
Williams came back strong at the end of the season, reaching the Kurtz Cup (B Division) finals, where they lost a competitive match to Brown.
Expect the Ephs to be stronger this year. Only one player from the top nine has graduated, and two of the incoming players — Caroline Sawin (Baldwin School) and Elly Oneill (Taft) — are expected to play in the middle of the order. Emily Gaddis of Portland, Oregon, will also be joining the team.
With a group of seasoned returners and some fresh faces in the line-up, the Ephs could make a real run for the A Division and the top 8.
