Princeton: 2011 – 2012 Men’s College Squash Season Preview

Princeton, NJ — Despite facing some significant losses in the lineup, Princeton is in the hunt for the Ivy League championship. The Tigers have lost four players from last season’s starting lineup, leaving holes throughout the ladder.

However, Princeton has a solid core of returners, among them last season’s individual national champion, Todd Harrity. The Tigers will also have six new players joining the team. Tyler Osborne of Canada and Samual Kang of Singapore, who are both the top-ranked junior players in their respective countries, are expected to play in the top half of the ladder. Taylor Tutrone and David Hoffman, two top-15 US juniors from Baltimore, will compete for spots in the bottom third of the ladder. Jacob Lee (Westminster) and Harold Li (Exeter) bring prep squash experience to the team as well.

Before the season gets underway the players will have a chance for team bonding. “We will be taking an international trip over our fall break to France. We will take our entire roster with us for eight days of training and sightseeing,” says head coach Bob Callahan, who predicts the experience will be a great preparation for the season ahead.

The Princeton courts have been replastered and should play like new, according to Callahan. That’s good news for both the Princeton players and all the teams headed to the 2011 Men’s National Team Championships, which will be hosted by Princeton as the main tournament site.
