Haverford, PA – Haverford has appointed Damon Leedale-Brown as men’s and women’s head squash coach. Leedale-Brown will be taking over for Sean Sloane, who recently retired from coaching squash after leading the Haverford program for twelve years.
Leedale-Brown comes to Haverford after working with Nick Matthew and James Willstrop, the fifth- and eighth-ranked players in the world, respectively. Through England Squash’s World Class Performance Program, Leedale-Brown has worked with internationally successful Junior and Senior teams and players. He has also provided performance training and coaching to US Junior and Senior national teams, high school and college programs, and highly ranked Junior players.
Leedale-Brown will take over during a potentially challenging season for both Haverford squads. The women, who went 4 and 7 last season to finish 29th nationally, will lose four players from the middle of their ladder to graduation. The men, who went 6 and 10 and finished 38th last season, will only be returning three varsity players from their 2009 National Team Championships roster.
Leedale-Brown is excited about the challenge of taking over the Haverford squads. “I am looking forward to my first season as Head Coach at Haverford College,” he says. “It is a truly great opportunity to work at a renowned school and further strengthen the squash program over the next few years, building on a foundation of excellence inspired by retiring coach Sean Sloane.”
