Georgetown: 2012 – 2013 Women’s College Squash Season Preview

Washington, DC — Georgetown, the 2011 Epps Cup champions, took a small step backward last season, adjusting to the loss of several players. The Hoyas should be picking up momentum again this season. Their line-up from last season is almost perfectly intact, with only one player not returning. The return of senior co-captain Caroline Palmer from study abroad will be a plus for the team. Carolyn Meister, the squad’s other senior co-captain, anticipates that several first-year players should also contribute this season. “As every year, our team goals this year are to climb the national ladder,” Meister says. “Although we strive to be the best club team, we also want to make a case for being a tough opponent to varsity programs as well.” As other D Division teams can attest, Georgetown certainly has proved a worthy opponent in the past and will be again this season. This year they’ll be coached by former GW captain Adam Pistel, who helped lead the Colonials to the C Division title at the 2012 Men’s National Team Championships.
