Dartmouth: 2018-2019 Women’s College Squash Season Preview

Following two straight Kurtz Cup championships in 2016 and 2017, the Dartmouth Women’s Squash team took a small step back in 2018, falling to familiar Kurtz Cup final opponent Drexel.  That was actually Dartmouth’s fifth Kurtz Cup final in six years, dropping their record to such matches to 3-3. The last time the Big Green was not in a B Division final was in 2014, when they finished eighth in the country.  Head Coach Hansi Wiens hopes to revisit that feeling of A Division action at the CSA Team National Championships in 2019.  To reach that level, Dartmouth will need strong contributions from several members of their freshman class to help replace the three starters who Dartmouth lost to graduation last spring.  Wiens will turn to junior Number 1 player Annie Blasberg and returning senior Number 8 player Emma Roberts for leadership as captains of the squad.  The Big Green will get an important opportunity for a rematch early in the season when then take on Drexel in late November. When the calendar changes to the new year, Dartmouth will three tough matches back-to-back-to-back against Williams, Columbia, and Cornell.
