Wesleyan: 2018-2019 Women’s College Squash Season Preview

While Wesleyan Women’s Squash will feature a deep lineup with eight of their ten starters from last year returning this season, the team may also have the biggest shoes to fill of any team in the College Squash Association this year.  Laila Samy graduated from Wesleyan this past spring with numerous accolades to her name: Betty Richey Award winner, four-time All-American, two-time NESCAC Player of the Year and NESCAC Rookie of the Year, 80-1 regular season dual match record.  Replacing her at the top of Wesleyan’s ladder will be one tall task, but reinforcements are on the way in the form of three incoming first-year players.  Those newcomers combined with the young but experienced roster creates a strong foundation on which to build for success this year and beyond.  Coach Shona Kerr and her squad will look to maintain their Top-20 ranking with regular season matches against reigning Walker Cup championships Bates, a Dickinson team on the rise, and Franklin & Marshall.
