Colby College Hires Chris Alplanalp as Head Squash Coach

Chris Alplanalp, formerly the head coach of men’s and women’s squash at St. Lawrence University, has been hired to the same position at Colby College, the college announced on Friday.

After spending 13 years at St. Lawrence, where he and his teams amassed numerous accolades, Alplanalp returns to the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC), where he was an All-American student-athlete.

Under Alplanalp’s leadership, both St. Lawrence squash programs improved greatly in recent years.  Headlining the success was the men’s program, which has finished in the top four of the CSA rankings in each of the last four years.  The St. Lawrence women won the reinstated Liberty League championship last year, and Alplanalp’s teams won eight Liberty League titles overall.

Alplanalp takes over Colby squash programs that both finished 23rd in their respective CSA rankings at the end of the 2017-2018 season.  He will look to build on the infrastructure established by long-tenured former head coach Sakhi Kahn and to take advantage of a new facility as the Colby Athletics Complex is scheduled to open in the Fall of 2020.
