Vassar: 2016 – 2017 Men’s College Squash Season Preview

Vassar College Poughkeepsie, NY — For the first time in sixteen seasons, Vassar will have a new coach. David Ames takes over as the interim head coach for Jane Parker, who guided the Brewers to a 76 – 195 record during her tenure. Ames served as the head coach at Bard College from 2003 – 2013. Vassar returns four players from the 2016 Men’s College Squash Association National Team Championships. The Brewers finished 6th in the Hawthorn Cup (G Division) and were ranked 54th in the nation at the conclusion of the season. The team is expecting a number of new players, several of whom should compete for starting ladder positions. It has been 11 seasons since the Brewers had a .500 record. With the roster additions, Vassar should be able to earn a few more victories than last season. This season will be challenging as the Brewers look to rebuild their program.
