Haverford: 2016 – 2017 Men’s College Squash Season Preview

Haverford College Ardmore, PA — Haverford finished in the top half of the Chaffee Cup at the 2016 Men’s College Squash Association National Team Championships. This season, the Fords recognize that they will be challenged. “We are coming into a season after having just graduated 5 players, so each of us will need to step up into new and challenging roles this year,” states head coach Niki Clement. To move up the rankings, the squad will need to perform better in close matches. Last year the Fords lost 3 of 4 5-4 matches. Clement, currently second on Haverford’s all-time men’s squash coaching victory list, is adding Bob Kacergis as an assistant to her coaching staff. The squad also has two experienced prep school players joining the ladder. Clement states that Haverford “is ready for the new challenges it faces this season and the players inspire excitement in me because of their eagerness to excel. Our goal is to play with excellence, composure and the strongest sportsmanship throughout the season, and especially during the toughest of matches.” Without a senior in the ladder, look for Haverford to have some growing pains this season, but for the season to be the starting point to future success.
