Northampton, MA — For the week ending 11/15/2015, Dickinson’s Hedvika Suchankova and Hobart’s Josh Oakley have been named the women’s and men’s [hpow].
A [hpow] should have a significant impact on his or her team’s performance during the prior week and demonstrate sportsmanship. Coaches and Sports Information Directors may nominate players.
Hedvika Suchankova (Dickinson College): First year student Hedvika Suchankova went 2-0 on the weekend playing the top position for the Dickinson Red Devils. Against Haverford, she recorded a 3-0 victory against Isabelle Gotuaco (11-4, 11-3, and 11-2) and against Vassar she earned a five-game victory over Hannah Nice (5-11, 11-3, 11-3, 3-11, and 11-6). Dickinson was 2-0 on Saturday with shutout victories over both Vassar and Haverford.
Josh Oakley (Hobart College): At the Navy round robin over the weekend, Hobart defeated MIT, 6-3. At the match at the #1 position, freshman Josh Oakley defeated MIT’s Justin Restivo, another freshman, in four very close games (11-9, 11-8, 12-14, and 12-10). Oakley also defeated Virginia’s Mason Blake in three games (11-5, 12-10, and 11-7) to begin his collegiate career with a 2-2 record.
