Ithaca, NY — With the loss of only one senior from last year’s Team Championships, Cornell is fielding a young team again this season. In fact, according to head coach Mark Devoy, the Big Red squad is “mainly freshmen and sophomores, so it will be exiting to see how they perform.” During the offseason, Cornell endowed its squash coaching position. Devoy became the first James Broadhead ’57 Head Coach of Squash. Cornell also added new electronic scoreboards to their home courts. In addition to the eight returning players from last season, Cornell is expecting six freshman to join the squad. The Big Red want to return to a top-10 ranking position this season. To accomplish this goal, each player will need to step up, especially the top 3, who collectively had an 0.4259 win percentage last season. If the young Cornell squad flourishes, look for them to surprise many teams in the lower half of the top-10 and to regain a position in the Potter Cup (A Division).
