William Smith: 2015 – 2016 Women’s College Squash Season Preview

William Smith College

Geneva, NY — William Smith last played for the Kurtz Cup in 2011; since then, the Herons have competed in the D Division, where they’ve reached the final three times and won the Epps Cup once. This season, the Herons hope to either return to the Walker Cup or, falling short, contend for the Epps Cup. With all but two players from last season’s championship line-up returning, William Smith’s goals should be within reach. Madison Bradley and Stacy Maceda, two new players, are expected to find spots in the bottom third of the Herons’ starting line-up, adding depth to the team.  Among the returners is senior Justine Shank, who interned last year with Major League Ultimate, a professional Ultimate Frisbee league. Fellow senior Erin Casey will captain the squad. Casey and Shank are the only members of the class of 2016 who competed at last year’s Women’s National Team Championships, so whatever momentum the Herons can gain this year should carry them into the future.
