Drexel: 2015 – 2016 Women’s College Squash Season Preview

Drexel University

Philadelphia, PA — The future looks bright for Drexel. The Dragons tied for 13th place in the 2014 – 2015 season-ending rankings, a program best. The team will return their top five players from last season’s championship roster, along with two other starters from the top nine. “We had great team chemistry last year and we hope to continue in the same pattern,” says assistant coach Kelsey Engman. “We hope to climb the rankings with the strength of our new recruits and returning veteran players. Of course, we hope to train well, play fairly, and achieve the best results we can achieve.” The new recruits are Fiona Power of Ireland and Apoorva Addepalli of India, who are both expected to make an impact on the starting line-up. Among the returners is senior co-captain Laura Rahauser. “Laura has been on the team almost since the inaugural year of the program. She has always worked her hardest, she takes her role on the team very seriously, and was subsequently voted captain for all of her efforts in the past three seasons,” Engman explains. The Dragons will be volunteering with SquashSmarts again this season, and they are planning a training trip for the winter. According to Engman, “We have a wonderful group of young women who get along well and work hard every day. The program is growing and it’s a great time to be a part of the team.”
