Colby Wins 2015 Women’s College Squash Most Improved Team Award

Princeton, NJ — Colby College won the 2015 Most Improved Team Award.

The Most Improved Team Award is based on both the number of spots a team has improved in the rankings as well as the strength of the opponents they have surpassed. This award was first presented in 2010. This season, voting for the Most Improved Team award was conducted after Team Championships, which allowed schools to view Team Championship results prior to casting their vote.

At the conclusion of the 2013 – 2014 season, Colby was ranked 23rd in the nation. The Mules opened the season ranked 21st in the 2014 – 2015 Dunlop Women’s College Squash Association Preseason Rankings.

The squad returned eight players from last season and added six first-year players to the roster, three who played at this season’s team championships.

The Mules capitalized upon important NESCAC matches this season. They defeated conference rivals Conn College, Tufts, and Wesleyan to position themselves as the 21st-ranked squash entering the Walker Cup. Colby defeated St. Lawrence to earn the 19th ranking position to close out the season.

The 2014-2015 Colby team was led by head coach Sakhi Khan and captain Liz Brehman.

This is the second time Colby has won the Most Improved Team Award.
