Amherst, MA — On January 11th, Amherst hosted the Naval Academy.

At the match at the #1 position, junior Noah Browne (Amherst) faced senior Andrew McGuinness (Navy). The two played a close match with numerous long rallies and athletic shots. Tied at a game apiece going in to the third game, Browne won the next two games to capture the individual match (11-7, 7-11, 11-7, and 11-9).

Navy captured the team match, 8-1.

Both squads had busy weekends. Navy lost a nail-biter to Bates, 4-5, and lost to Trinity. Amherst edged Bowdoin, 5-4, and lost to Bates, 1-8.

Amherst returns to play January 16th when they host the Pioneer Valley Invitational. Navy visits George Washington on January 14th.
