Virginia: 2014 – 2015 Women’s College Squash Season Preview

Virginia, University ofCharlottesville, VA — Virginia isn’t satisfied with winning the Epps Cup (D Division). They are not satisfied being the highest ranked club team. The team plans to move even higher in the rankings this season. With six experienced players joining the Cavaliers’ ladder, the team could end up in this season’s Walker Cup (C Division). According to head coach Mark Allen, “After losing just one player to graduation and adding six new players to our top nine, we are confident that with the right preparation we can challenge for the C Division title this season.” The team has beefed up its schedule and will face C Division teams in the regular season, including Mount Holyoke and Wellesley. Senior captain Celia Dyer will be serving her second stint as captain this season. “In Celia’s career, she has racked up an impressive 37-3 record for the Cavaliers and we are excited to have one more year with her here at UVa,” adds Allen. The Cavaliers hope that the 2014 – 2015 season will be a major advancement in their goal of attaining a top-10 position by the 2018 – 2019 season.
