Colgate: 2013 – 2014 Men’s College Squash Season Preview

Colgate University Hamilton, NY — Colgate finished seventh in the E Division last season, coming just inside the top 40 to be ranked 39th. This season, the Raiders want to move even higher in the rankings. One of the tests for Colgate will be a match with NYU. “They were close to us in the rankings last year and being one of our first matches, they will be a good barometer of how the team has fared since last season,” explains captain Jack Eiel. Colgate is also focused on matches with Lehigh, Bucknell, Navy, and Lafayette, schools that are the Raiders’ Patriot League rivals in other sports. Although Colgate lost three players from its starting 9, it has a plethora of players joining the team this season. There are seven new players, five of whom are expected to fight for positions in the top 9. Eiel adds that the team would like to “Win our division at nationals.” With the influx of talent, this may very well be possible.
