Harvard: 2013 – 2014 Men’s College Squash Season Preview

Harvard University Cambridge, MA — The Harvard men have made significant strides in a short space of time. In 2011, they were relegated to the consolation bracket at the Men’s National Team Championships and had to battle to finish fifth in the nation. A year later, they made it to the semifinals, and last year they reached the finals, where they fell to Trinity 3-6. This year’s squad is deep, experienced, and hungry to win. Two starters from last season’s finalist roster have graduated, but they both played in the bottom three. Three of the six newcomers are expected to play in the top nine: Dylan Murray should find a spot near the top of the order, Devin McLaughlin will likely play in the middle, and Bryan Koh will help fill those gaps near the bottom. Gordon Michas, Cooper Briggs, and Evan Hahn will also be joining the program, as well former Rochester standout Hameed Ahmed, a new assistant coach. If some of those names sound familiar, they should: Koh, McLaughlin, Michas and Murray all have siblings who have played or are playing squash at Harvard. Harvard will be hosting the men’s championships this year, and if they bring home the title they won’t have far to drive — but they will have come a long way.
