Illinois (Springfield): 2013 – 2014 Men’s College Squash Season Preview

Illinois Springfield, University of Springfield, IL — For the University of Illinois Springfield, making it to the Men’s National Team Championships would be an accomplishment in itself. Last year the team went 2 and 13 on the season and finished 9th in the Hawthorn Cup. “Our team goals are to compete at the national tournament and have fun while doing so,” explains Scott Warden, who will co-captain the team with Jon Cunningham. “Our main team goal would be to have fun.” The players on the UIS squad are looking forward to competing against larger schools and traveling to Boston for the 2014 Men’s National Team Championships. Five players who competed at last year’s national tournament will be back, and they are looking for more players to join them. “We are looking to expand the squash team at this school so all are welcome to come by and try it out,” Warden tells prospective UIS squashers.
