Swarthmore, PA — “Swarthmore entered ’12-’13 having lost the top three players from the year before, but the younger players definitely stepped up, and we only finished one spot lower at Nationals,” explains captain Jason Hua. This time around, Swarthmore is in a stronger position coming into the season: only one player from the top nine is not returning, and five new players will add depth to the lower half of the order. Sudarshan Gopaladesikan, who is returning from a year-long hiatus, should play in the middle three, as will Richard Ngo. Chris You, Azikiwea Green, and Nadeen Hamza are all expected to play in the bottom three. With the new players on board, Swarthmore is hoping to move up a division and compete for the Chaffee Cup. The team is planning more home matches at the Fairmount Athletic Club, and they are looking forward to starting the season by traveling to Bucknell for a tournament. “This team was built from the ground up just six years ago,” Hua tells prospective players. “We are a very tight group, and we remain close with our alumni. Swarthmore Squash is an opportunity to become a part of tradition in the making at a great school.”
